September 30 marks the due date for Hawaii’s homeowner exemption. You can file yours online here or print out the form here to deliver or mail.

Hawaii’s homeowner exemption law was put into place to give tax relief to homeowners, support homeownership, and settlement of land. Currently, the basic homeowner exemption is $80,000 which is deducted from the assessed value of their property and the homeowner is taxed on the balance. For homeowners 65 years and older, the home exemption is $120,000.
